Project Coordinator & Researcher
Fouad Jabir Kadhem is the Project Coordinator and Researcher at the Centre for Academic Shi’a Studies. Fouad is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter, Institute of Arab & Islamic Studies. His research focuses on Najaf and Iraqi politics. He received his BA degree in Political Science from Baghdad University, Iraq in 1990. He completed his MA degree in European Politics at London South Bank University in 2002.
Fouad's research interests are in Shi'a studies with particular focus on Iraq and the Middle East. He has published a book on the roots of tolerance in Shi'a thought (Arabic) and several papers on Shi’ism. He regularly appears as a guest on Arabic satellite channels on programs on Iraq and has delivered and presented several papers in academic conferences in both the UK and Europe.
He is also researching the history and development of the Hawza as part of the Clerical Authority in Shi'i Islam Project.
